Welcome Back, Adventurers!
This will be a quick post about what’s going on with the company recently. We’re dealing with Physical Copies, Adventure Updates, Campaign’s Release, and a BIG DELAY.
Let’s get into it!
Physical Copies
All the physical copies have come in just fine! We’re doing count of them and sending them out soon.
For the backers who ordered physical copies that did not order physical feat card decks, your orders will come in first.
This is because the cards are taking a little longer to get here and I’d rather send people the stuff that I can instead delaying until everyone’s items are more late than they already are.
The quality of these books is MUCH higher than the original, and whereas previously I would only use it to show to people, but never during play (because the pages were too stiff, it closed on itself, too glossy, etc.) I now use the book instead of the PDF to play the game. It just feels good to use, and I’m glad it came out great!
I hope you’re all excited to get your hands on your copies!
Adventure Updates
Version 0.91 of “The Star Under Providence Town” has been released to the beta testers. The only thing remaining is a few maps, images, the descriptions of the final dungeon’s few rooms, and a 2-page spread describing “What-If” scenarios the players could run into on their adventures.
The Maps I do by hand. I’ll probably try to redo some of them, I don’t fully like the look of them, but they get the job done. I’d like to hear everyone else’s opinions on them first.
For the Images we will be consulting our good friend Inked Gas. He did the inventory sheets, follower sheets, company logo, all of that. As well as some of the more recent art you’ve seen us put out. He’s a great artist and its always a pleasure to work with him again!
The Final Dungeon Few Rooms I’m excited to get back to working on. With the release of Campaign, I’ve really gotten back into the groove of making dungeons, and I’m excited to work on making more.
The “What-If” Scenarios deal with things like, “What if they team up with the Bandits? The Cultists? The Viscount? What if they wipe out the Cultists, the Bandits, the Viscount, entirely?” These will be there to help GMs bounce back if their PCs put them in a pickle.
Campaign’s Release
All I have to say is, “that went well.”
Campaign has been a stellar success! Sales/views/downloads of Crowns have gone up radically, a lot of people are getting their first games in, and we’re building a fun little community on the Ward Against Evil Discord!
The weekly rumors spread via the Word Around the Den on the Campaign itch.io page have been fun to write, and so far the game has been fantastic to play with all these new faces.
Let’s keep the momentum going!
The Big Delay
So, there’s been some major life news that is going to cause about a 6-7 month delay on the physical copies, as well as 3 month delay on content.
I’m to Basic Combat Training (BCT), Airborne School, and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) for the Army National Guard this summer/fall.
In total, that is roughly 6-7 months.
It’s necessary for a couple reasons.
My mom was recently diagnosed with cancer, and while it’s 80/20 if she’ll be fine or not, having the extra money would really help her while she can’t work (she normally would work a very physically intensive job).
The other is that my wife and I are about to graduate from university, forcing us to move out of the REALLY cheap on-campus apartments into real apartments. Having a deeper pool of savings would allow me to better provide for her as well.
How will the delay effect Crowns?
I start BCT in early June, so that’s my new deadline. Here’s what WILL be done by then:
- All physical Core Rules and Feat Card Decks will be shipped out
- The Star Under Providence Town will be completed and put up on itch.io
Here’s what MIGHT be done before the deadline:
- The entire “Season of Crows” 7 zine set that will be released monthly starting in June (with two zines released initially)
Here’s what WILL NOT be done before the deadline:
- “Where the Wind Bites Like Steel”
- “Delve Darker Dungeons” sets 2-4 (the first set is the “Season of Crows”)
It will also put a break on Crowns Campaign, however, once I get out of BCT (about 2.5 months) then I will have a lot more free-time, and can start working on Campaign and the other projects again! I won’t be able to do the physical copies until later, but I can get all the PDFs worked on/finished.
Don’t worry, I will provide everything I said I would, it just might take a little longer than expected.
Thank you so much, everyone!
Until we meet again,
GOOD LUCK ON YOUR ADVENTURES
